YouTube Stupid Stunt Kills

Police said the couple set up two cameras outside their Halstad home. Their 3-year-old daughter and almost 30 other people were watching.

“I may fail, but if I fail I want to die trying. We’re all going to die anyways – it’s just a matter of how and when,” Ruiz was heard saying in one of his videos.

Stop the Stupidity

“How long will you simple ones love your simple ways?

How long will mockers delight in mockery and fools hate knowledge? (Proverbs 1:22)

30 stupid people watching?! 30!

Young couple performing a stunt with the, I assume wife, shooting a large bullet at a book her husband is holding. Indeed, so stupid she had never fired a gun in her life. “As long as you hit the book, you’ll be fine. Come on.” Ruiz told her.

What a pathetic excuse for a father or husband. Whose to blame? Many, too many and not enough time to spell that aspect out. If only they would have spent their time repenting of folly, stupidity, and sin by responding to God’s rebukes – but alas – that is a topic for another day.

The stupid of the stupidest part is that Mr. Ruiz knows that what he is doing is wrong. Mr. Ruiz understands that “Jesus” will not forgive him for being so stupid but continues on in his sin. Such is the nature of sin.

He will die for lack of discipline, led astray by his own great folly. (Proverbs 5:23)

Just so everyone knows – Jesus is not part of the stupid class. In fact, if anyone humbles themselves they will discover the wisdom, power and love, true love that comes from a holy life. A wisdom so precious Jesus keeps it secret from, you guessed it, the willfully stupid.

No, we speak of God’s secret wisdom, a wisdom that has been hidden and that God destined for our glory before time began. (1 Corinthians 2:7)

Plea Bargain

The officials of Zoan are nothing but fools; the wise counselors of Pharaoh give senseless advice.

How can you say to Pharaoh, “I am one of the wise men, a disciple of the ancient kings”?(Isaiah 19:11)

Oh the cultural stupidity from the prosecutor and judge classes, they are senseless.

Let’s see. Wife shoots husband in stupidity. Wife is a woman thus special arrangements are made for such gender so that judge sentences her, are you ready?, to, and I quote, “In December 2017, Perez pleaded guilty to second-degree manslaughter. She was sentenced to 180 days in jail. She will serve her sentence in 30-day installments each year for six years.” 1

Now, I know what your thinking, that I think Mrs. Ruiz should be locked up for life when I haven’t given that a consideration because the judge is so very stupid as to spread Mrs. Ruiz jail time over years in 30-day installments. Plea bargaining is so much akin to a crooked used car salesmen mentality. And this is said with apologies to used car salesmen, er, salespersons everywhere.

  • Mrs. Ruiz sentencing should have been much more, for lack of a better word, creative. Thus ensuring justice and healing in the land. As it is, all that was pushed forward was the empty selfish ambition of defense lawyers and prosecutors. Alas, it is Mrs. Ruiz and children that will suffer first and foremost. Such is the sorrowful condition of the legal system.
  • “This is what the Lord says: ” ‘Your wound is incurable, your injury beyond healing. There is no one to plead your cause, no remedy for your sore, no healing for you”. (Jeremiah 30:12-13)

Here is why installment jail time is so very stupid in this case.

Mrs. Ruiz is ruined psychologically and will be carrying around the guilt of her folly year after year. Thus placing her amongst the negative influence of prisoners trapped in the most depressing inducing environment the United States can produce each year is dumb, dumb and dumbest. Monalisa Perez complements of Norman County Attorney James Brue of Ada MN will have her depression, guilt and despair darkened year upon year by those beaten down in the legal system. Brilliantly stupid.

Better that Mrs. Perez Ruiz had been released as she would have had an impossible time of overcoming the depression, the guilt and the urge to escape through drugs or drink just on that level.

Now, every year Mrs. Ruiz will get a refresher course on self-destruction from those trapped in drugs, depression and the like.

Had the, excuse the term, “Justice” System not outlawed a holy God this poor, stupid wife could have been sentenced to thirty days each year to stay at a monastery where there is no talking allowed. Further Mrs. Ruiz would have been required to read the Bible from end to end.

No guarantee Mrs. Ruiz would desire the forgiveness of God, (most don’t), but at least the outside influence of a monastery is far better than a prison yard, blaring prison TV and the despairing chatter of those locked away.

Better, much better the monastery for her and her children than being beaten down by the prison system.

My prayer is Mrs. Ruiz, now a widow, will repent of stupidity and become full of the life and power that are in Jesus. If it were not for Seattle’s King County Prosecutors, as arranged by Prosecutor Dan Satterberg Mrs. Ruiz could have been sentenced to 30 days each year to my rebuking sermons …at least in that there would have been hope.

If you had responded to my rebuke, I would have poured out my heart to you … (Proverbs 1:23)

Repent Mrs. Ruiz so that when you serve your 30 day installments in prison you can overcome evil with good, sharing the life that is hidden in Jesus until the prosecutors and judges persecute you for daring to share Jesus in their dark domain.

(—A Minnesota woman who accidentally shot and killed her boyfriend in a YouTube stunt gone wrong has been sentenced to 180 days in prison after accepting a plea agreement.

Monalisa Perez, 20, pleaded guilty to second-degree manslaughter in December for killing her 22-year-old boyfriend Pedro Ruiz III last June. She was sentenced on Wednesday, the Star Tribune reported.

Under the plea agreement, Perez is banned for life from possessing a firearm and cannot receive payment for telling her story. She will serve her time in 10-day increments over the next three years.

According to court documents, the couple had prepared the stunt hoping for it to go viral.

Police said the couple set up two cameras outside their Halstad home. Their 3-year-old daughter and almost 30 other people were watching.

For the stunt, Perez, who was pregnant with their second child at the time, fired a shot from a .50-caliber Desert Eagle pistol at Ruiz from a foot away. They both believed a hardcover encyclopedia he held against his chest would shield him.

However, Ruiz was fatally wounded.

“We were doing a YouTube video, and it went wrong,” a transcript of the 911 call quoted Perez. “It’s all on recording.”

On Wednesday, Norman County Attorney James Brue told the Star Tribune that he was satisfied that the 180-day jail sentence holds her accountable for “negligence that led to the tragic and completely avoidable death.”
